What is Podiatry?
Podiatry deals with the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of disorders in the feet and lower limbs.
What do Podiatrists do?
Podiatrists diagnose and treat:
- conditions resulting from bone and joint disorders as well as neurological and circulatory diseases
- complications from those disorders and diseases which affect the lower limb, including skin and nail disorders, corns, calluses and ingrown toenails
- foot injuries and infections from sport or other activities
They also devise treatment plans, design and produce orthotic devices and perform minor surgeries.
