Podiatry

What is Podiatry?

Podiatry deals with the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of disorders in the feet and lower limbs.

What do Podiatrists do?

Podiatrists diagnose and treat:

  • conditions resulting from bone and joint disorders as well as neurological and circulatory diseases
  • complications from those disorders and diseases which affect the lower limb, including skin and nail disorders, corns, calluses and ingrown toenails
  • foot injuries and infections from sport or other activities

They also devise treatment plans, design and produce orthotic devices and perform minor surgeries.

Is Podiatry for me?

Podiatry is for you if you enjoy applying bio-mechanical principles to analyse and modify stresses which may affect the lower limb and foot.
