IDAPE is a government assistance scheme providing financial help to needy and disabled elderly Singaporeans, who were not eligible to join ElderShield because of their age or pre-existing disabilities. IDAPE is administered by NTUC Income.

Should you qualify, IDAPE will provide you $100 or $150 a month, for a maximum period of 72 months.

To make a claim under IDAPE, you must meet the following criteria:

  • You are unable to perform 3 or more of the 6 Activities of Daily Living (ADLs; washing, feeding, dressing, toileting, mobility and transferring).
  • You are a Singapore citizen born before 30 September 1932 OR born between 1 October 1932 and 30 September 1962 (both dates inclusive) but with pre-existing disabilities as at 30 September 2002
  • Your per capita household monthly income is less $2,200 OR for households with no income and living in a residence with Annual Value of $13,000 and below.

From 1 July 2012, IDAPE will be enhanced to provide more assistance to disabled elderly with long-term care needs.

IDAPE payouts will be increased to $150 and $250 per month, up from the current $100 and $150 per month. Income cut-offs will also be raised so that more elderly can benefit from IDAPE (see table below).
