18th Confirmed Case of Influenza A (H1N1-2009)

 Singapore has confirmed one more case of Influenza A (H1N1-2009), bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 18. To date, 10 patients have been discharged (1st – 6th, 9th – 12th cases). There are 8 patients still in hospital and their conditions are stable. 

The 18th Confirmed Case
2. The 18th case is a 36-year-old Filipino female who works in Singapore. She returned to Singapore from Manila on Philippine Airlines PR501 at 1835 hours on 8 June. She was seated at row 6. She was admitted to CDC for further assessment on 9 June afternoon. Laboratory results confirmed her infection at 1645 hours on 9 June 09. She has relatively mild symptoms and is in stable condition.

Contact Tracing
3. Contact tracing has been initiated for the 18th confirmed case. Passengers within rows 4 to 8 on PR501 on 8 June who have not been contacted by MOH yet should call the MOH hotline at 1800-333 9999 to enable us to check on their health condition expeditiously. All close contacts identified will be quarantined and provided with antiviral prophylaxis.

4. Further updates on the case will be given later. MOH is monitoring the situation closely and will keep the public informed on any new developments.
