Medisave Contributions 


Employees have to contribute 8% - 10.5% of their monthly wages to their Medisave account depending on their age group as shown below:

Please note that the Medisave contribution rates shown are only applicable for employees earning ≥ $750 per month. The Medisave contribution rate for those earning less than $750 is based on a range of phased-in contribution rates.

Basic Healthcare Sum 

The Basic Healthcare Sum (BHS) is the estimated savings required for basic subsidised healthcare needs in old age. The BHS is adjusted yearly for members below age 65 to keep pace with the growth in Medisave withdrawals. 

The BHS is set at $54,500 on 1 January 2018 for all CPF members aged 65 and below. As life expectancy and healthcare costs rise, younger cohorts of CPF members will need more Medisave for their healthcare expenses in old age. The BHS will therefore be adjusted yearly in January to keep pace with the growth in Medisave use by the elderly.

No further increases in the Basic Healthcare Sum from age 65

Each cohort’s Basic Healthcare Sum (BHS) will be fixed when they turn 65 years old, and this amount will not change for the rest of their lives.

The cohort turning 65 in 2018 will have their BHS fixed at $54,500. The BHS for those aged 66 and above remain unchanged. The table below summarises the applicable BHS for each cohort:
