File No: CF 078: 083

1.    We refer to Circular CF 078:083 Code of Practice on the Standards for the Provision of Clinical Genetic/Genomic Testing (CGT) Services and Clinical Laboratory Genetic/Genomic Testing (LGT) Services (‘Standards’) issued by the Ministry of Health on 28 June 2018.

2.   The Standards were issued as a ‘Code of Practice’ on 1 July 2018, with a one-year ‘sunrise period’ till 30 June 2019. With effect from 1 July 2019, MOH will be extending the ‘sunrise period’ to 31 December 2020 to provide licensees more time to familiarise themselves with, and be compliant with the Standards. In the interim, the Standards will continue as a Code of Practice for all licensees of the Private Hospitals and Medical Clinics Act (PHMCA) providing CGT and LGT services.

3.   Licensees and registered medical practitioners are strongly encouraged to comply with the Standards and continue to use the extension of the ‘sunrise period’ to review and make the necessary changes to their current processes. MOH will also be engaging you in the 1st half of 2020 to review the Standards and transit it into a set of Regulations under the upcoming Healthcare Services Act.

4.   The previously circulated Standards (with the accompanying FAQs) are attached for your reference. Please note that no changes have been made to the Standards since its issuance.

5.   Should you require further clarification or feedback to the Standards, please send us your queries via email at eLIS@moh.gov.sg.

Thank you.
