Research from the Journal of Housing for the Elderly has found that spending time outdoors can reduce stress levels, improve your sleep quality and boost your overall physical health. It is a bonus if you can work in some fun into your activities, like heading to any of Singapore’s top attractions as they are not just for tourists. 1. Stop and smell the flowers

Gardens by the Bay is a nature park built on reclaimed land, and it’s as big as about 141 football fields. There is an impressive array of beautiful foliage and rare flowers from around the world. The Outdoor Gardens is free of charge and a great place to admire the Supertrees and Singapore’s city skyline. Don’t forget to visit the two largest greenhouses in the world – the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest – to enjoy a bird’s eye view of vegetation and flora in rather cool temperatures. It is a great way to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.

2. Nostalgia hour

Take a trip through 700 years of Singapore’s history to find out how life in this Lion City has changed over the centuries. View landmark objects and be acquainted with historical figures in each phase of Singapore’s history. Explore how people from different communities used to live, their aspirations and how they helped shape the Singapore we live in today. 

Don’t miss the National Museum’s latest exhibition, In an Instant: Polaroid at the Intersection of Art and Technology, featuring over 220 Polaroid artefacts and artworks produced during the height of its popularity. The exhibition runs until 31 March 2019.

3. Monkeying around

Singapore’s wildlife parks have been a must-visit for both locals and tourists for more than 40 years. Visit Asia’s top-rated Singapore Zoo that is home to over 2,800 animals, including the 81-year-old tortoise named Astove. 5. Jazz up your life
With a variety of performances such as ballet, jazz and theatre at the Esplanade, try something new with your loved ones and friends. The Durian, as the Esplanade is fondly called, offers senior concession tickets for most programmes. And if you are 55 years old and above, you can sign up for a free JOYears membership that entitles you to ticket savings for programmes specially for seniors, the Coffee Morning and Afternoon Tea series, A Date with Friends festival and promotions at food outlets at Esplanade Mall.

Rate for seniors:
Seniors aged 60 years and above get concessionary rates to most programmes and complimentary JOYears membership for those 55 years old and above.
