1.    As of 22 April 2021, 12pm, the Ministry of Health (MOH) has preliminarily confirmed 2 new cases of locally transmitted COVID-19 infection. Based on our investigations so far, 1 is in the community, and 1 resides in a dormitory.

2.    In addition, there are 22 imported cases, who had already been placed on Stay-Home Notice upon arrival in Singapore. In total, there are 24 new cases of COVID-19 infection in Singapore today.

3.    As part of our investigations into Case 62181 [1], MOH and the Ministry of Manpower have commenced a special testing operations to test residents of Westlite Woodlands Dormitory (2 Woodlands Sector 2) for COVID-19. So far, 17 recovered workers were found to be positive for COVID-19. These cases were immediately isolated and conveyed to the National Centre for Infectious Diseases. MOH, together with an expert panel which comprises infectious diseases and microbiology experts, is investigating if they are re-infection cases.

4.    We are still working through the details of the cases, and further updates will be shared via the MOH press release that will be issued tonight.

[1] Case 62181 is a 35 year-old male Bangladesh national who is employed by Prosper Environmental & Engineering Pte Ltd as a construction supervisor. He works at Sembcorp Marine Admiralty Yard and resides at Westlite Woodlands Dormitory. He was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection on 19 April.
