26 more cases discharged; 386 new cases of COVID-19 infection confirmed

          26 more cases[i] of COVID-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities. In all, 586 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities.

2.         The Ministry of Health (MOH) has been monitoring existing clusters for any further transmission. As there have been no more cases linked to the private dinner function at SAFRA Jurong on 15 February for the past two incubation periods (i.e. 28 days), the cluster has now been closed.

3.           As of 13 April 2020, 12pm, MOH has confirmed and verified an additional 386 cases of COVID-19 infection in Singapore. The breakdown is as follows:

a)         Imported cases: 0
b)         Linked to known clusters: 280, of which the vast majority are Work Permit holders in the dormitories
c)          Linked to other cases: 12, of which 7 are Singapore Citizens/ Permanent Residents and five are Work Permit holders
d)         Pending contact tracing: 94, of which 21 are Singapore Citizens/ Permanent Residents, five are S Pass holders, 64 are Work Permit holders, and the rest are Long Term Pass holders.

4.          Contact tracing and investigation are underway for currently unlinked cases to establish any links to known clusters or previous cases. In the past week (6 April to 12 April), MOH has uncovered links for 316 previously unlinked cases.


Links between previous cases found

5.          Further epidemiological investigations and contact tracing have uncovered links between previously announced and new cases. A summary of all the confirmed cases are in the Annex.

a)         Six of the earlier confirmed cases[1] have now been linked to a new cluster at CitiWall (34 Kaki Bukit Crescent).

b)         One of the confirmed cases is linked to six previous cases[2], forming a new cluster at ABC Hostel (3 Jalan Kubor).

c)          One of the newly confirmed cases is linked to eight previous cases[3], forming a new cluster at Tech Park Crescent dormitory (43 Tech Park Crescent).

d)         Six of the earlier confirmed cases[4] have now been linked to a new cluster at Kranji Dormitory (17 Kranji Way).

e)         222 additional cases are linked to the cluster at S11 Dormitory @ Punggol (2 Seletar North Link), which has a total of 586 confirmed cases[5] now.

f)          Eight additional cases are linked to the cluster at Westlite Toh Guan dormitory (18 Toh Guan Road East), which has a total of 84 confirmed cases[6] now.

g)         One additional case is linked to the cluster at Westlite Woodlands dormitory (2 Woodlands Sector 2), which as a total of nine cases[7] now.

h)         22 additional cases are linked to the cluster at Toh Guan Dormitory (19A Toh Guan Road East), which has a total of 67 confirmed cases[8] now.

i)          77 additional cases are linked to the cluster at Sungei Tengah Lodge (500 Old Choa Chu Kang Road), which has a total of 157 confirmed cases[9] now.

j)          Two additional cases are linked to the cluster at Tampines Dormitory (2 Tampines Place), which has a total of 53 cases[10] now.

k)         Seven additional cases are linked to the cluster at Cochrane Lodge I (51 Admiralty Road West), which has a total of 39 cases[11] now.

l)          Eight additional cases are linked to the cluster at Cochrane Lodge II (49 Admiralty Road West), which has a total of 25 cases[12] now.

m)        Six additional cases are linked to the cluster at Cassia @ Penjuru (15 Penjuru Walk), which has a total of 15 confirmed cases[13] now.

n)         Three additional cases are linked to the cluster at North Coast Lodge (51 North Coast Avenue), which has a total of nine cases[14] now.

o)         14 additional cases are linked to the cluster at Acacia Lodge (530-540 Bukit Batok Street 23), which has a total of 29 confirmed cases[15] now.

p)         Four additional cases are linked to the cluster at Tuas View Dormitory (70 Tuas South Avenue 1), which has a total of 12 confirmed cases[16] now.

q)         Five additional cases are linked to the cluster at 36 Woodlands Industrial Park E1, which has a total of 25 cases[17] now.

r)          Three additional cases are linked to the cluster at 31 Sungei Kadut Avenue, which has a total of 10 cases[18] now.

s)          Two additional cases are linked to the cluster at 21B Senoko Loop and 13 Senoko Way, which has a total of six cases[19] now.

t)          Three additional cases are linked to the cluster at a construction site at Project Glory (50 Market Street), which has a total of 49 confirmed cases[20] now.

u)         Three additional cases are linked to the cluster at the renovation sites at the National University Hospital (5 Lower Kent Ridge Road), which has a total of 23 confirmed cases[21] now.

v)          Three additional cases are linked to the cluster at the Kenyon/ UBS construction site (9 Penang Road), which has a total of 11 cases[22] now.

w)         One additional case is linked to the cluster at Mustafa Centre (145 Syed Alwi Road), which has a total of 83 confirmed cases[23] now.

x)          One additional case is linked to the cluster at McDonald’s, which has a total of five cases[24] now.

Update on condition of confirmed cases

Passing of Case 1836

7.          Case 1836, a 65 year-old male Singapore Citizen, has passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection on 13 April 2020 afternoon. He was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection on 9 April. Khoo Teck Puat Hospital has reached out to his family and is extending assistance to them.

8.          To date, a total of 586 cases have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities.

9.        Of the 1,158 confirmed cases who are still in hospital, most are stable or improving. 29 are in critical condition in the intensive care unit. 1,165 cases who are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. Nine have passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection.


Update on contact tracing for confirmed cases

10.        Contact tracing for the confirmed cases is ongoing. Once identified, MOH will closely monitor all close contacts. As a precautionary measure, they will be quarantined for 14 days from their last exposure to the patient. In addition, all other identified contacts who have a low risk of being infected will be under active surveillance, and will be contacted daily to monitor their health status.

11.        As of 13 April 2020, 12pm, MOH has identified 28,333 close contacts who have been quarantined. Of these, 11,583 are currently quarantined, and 16,750 have completed their quarantine.
