1. Minister for Health Mr Gan Kim Yong will attend the 14th ASEAN Health Ministers Meeting, 8th ASEAN Plus Three Health Ministers Meeting and 7th ASEAN-China Health Ministers Meeting in Siem Reap, Cambodia from 29 to 30 August 2019.
2. The ASEAN Health Ministers Meeting and related meetings are held biennially to set the direction for regional health cooperation. Attendees include Health Ministers from ASEAN and Plus Three (China, Japan and Republic of Korea), ASEAN Secretary General, and the World Health Organization’s Regional Directors or their representatives. The theme for this year’s meetings is Accelerating Health for All in ASEAN.
3. Mr Gan will deliver a speech on Singapore’s progress in achieving sustainable health financing towards health for all. He will also participate in discussions on opportunities to strengthen regional pandemic preparedness, innovative means to enhance the quality of health services, as well as the importance of combating the spread of substandard and falsified medicines in the region. Mr Gan will also meet with his counterparts during the visit.
4. Mr Gan will be accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry of Health.
