               Minister for Health, Mr Ong Ye Kung, will lead the Singapore delegation to the 77th World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland from 26 to 29 May 2024.

2.           The World Health Assembly is the World Health Organization’s (WHO) highest decision-making body. Its annual meeting sets out WHO’s policies and programmes for the year ahead. The theme for this year’s World Health Assembly is “All for Health, Health for All”. It will discuss key public health issues, including:

a. Achieving universal health coverage for one billion more people;
b. Enhancing protection of one billion more people from health emergencies; and
c. Strengthening of public health emergencies prevention, preparedness and response.

3.            Mr Ong will deliver remarks during the World Health Assembly Plenary Address. He will also be participating in the following events during the trip: 

a. Dialogue organised by WHO on “All for Health, Health for All: the WHO Investment Case”;

b. Panel discussion co-supported by the World Economic Forum on sustainable financing and regionalised vaccine manufacturing; 

c. Panel discussion organised by the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Traders on strengthening partnerships for global health progress; and

d. Dialogue organised by the McKinsey Health Institute on “Advancing health in cities: Insights and tools to help cities and communities thrive”.

4.             Mr Ong will meet with senior WHO officials and his foreign counterparts during his visit. He will be accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry of Health.
