Summary of local situation · As of 13 August 2021, 12pm, the Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed and verified that there are 45 cases of locally transmitted COVID-19 infection and 4 imported cases. · 488 cases are currently warded in hospital. Most are well and under observation. There are currently 30 cases of serious illness requiring oxygen supplementation, and 10 in critical condition in the intensive care unit (ICU). · Over the last 28 days, the percentage of unvaccinated who became severely ill or died is 9.6%, while that for the fully vaccinated is 1.0%. · As of 12 August 2021, 74% of our population has completed their full regimen/ received two doses of COVID-19 vaccines, and 81% has received at least one dose. |
Update on vaccination progress As of 12 August 2021, we have administered a total of 8,286,283 doses of COVID-19 vaccines under the national vaccination programme (Pfizer-BioNTech Comirnaty and Moderna), covering 4,402,608 individuals, with 4,011,715 individuals having completed the full vaccination regimen.
2. In addition, 142,966 doses of other vaccines recognised in the World Health Organization’s Emergency Use Listing (WHO EUL) have been administered as of 12 August 2021, covering 82,951 individuals. In total, 74% of our population has completed their full regimen/ received two doses of COVID-19 vaccines, and 81% has received at least one dose.

Condition of hospitalised cases3. 488 cases are currently warded in hospital. There are currently 30 cases of serious illness requiring oxygen supplementation, and 10 in critical condition in the ICU. 7 amongst these 40 cases are fully vaccinated. Of those who have fallen very ill, 34 are seniors above 60 years, of whom 27 are completely unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.
4. Case 66875, an 84 year-old male Singaporean, has passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection on 13 August 2021. He had developed symptoms on 28 July, and was admitted to National University Hospital on 29 July where he tested positive for COVID-19 infection. He had not been vaccinated against COVID-19, and had a history of cancer, ischaemic heart disease, diabetes mellitus, hypertension and hyperlipidaemia. In total, 44 have passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection.

5. There is continuing evidence that almost all fully-vaccinated individuals do not suffer serious disease when infected, unless if they had underlying medical conditions that made them more susceptible. Over the last 28 days, the percentage of unvaccinated who became severely ill or died is 9.6%, while that for the fully vaccinated is 1.0%.

Locally transmitted COVID-19 cases6. There are 45 cases of locally transmitted COVID-19 infection today. 20 are linked to previous cases, and have already been placed on quarantine. 12 are linked to previous cases and were detected through surveillance. 13 are currently unlinked.
7. There are 4 imported cases, have already been placed on Stay-Home Notice (SHN) or isolated upon arrival in Singapore. In total, there are 49 new cases of COVID-19 infection in Singapore today.

Summary of trends for local cases8. Overall, the number of new cases in the community has decreased from 671 cases in the week before to 380 cases in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has also decreased from 191 cases in the week before to 108 cases in the past week. The 7-day moving average number of all linked community cases and all unlinked community cases are 38.9 and 15.4 respectively.

Summary of trends for imported cases9. There are a total of 4 imported cases today, who have already been placed on Stay-Home Notice (SHN) or isolated upon arrival in Singapore. 2 were detected upon arrival in Singapore, while 2 developed the illness during SHN or isolation.
