Question No. 586

To ask the Minister for Health whether locum nurses and Singaporean construction workers who work closely with foreign workers can be given priority for COVID-19 vaccination, similar to frontline workers.

Written Answer

In line with the recommendations of the Expert Committee on COVID-19 Vaccination (EC19V), we have prioritised vaccination of groups that are at higher risk of infection, as well as those in jobs or settings where the risk of a rapid transmission and large outbreak is high.

Registered nurses who are not part of the Public Healthcare Institutions (PHIs) have been given priority to receive the COVID-19 vaccination.  This includes nurses engaged by independently operated private nursing agencies, as well as nurses who have been given approval by the Singapore Nursing Board (SNB) to practise independently.  Many of them have played a key role in our battle against the pandemic.

Singaporean construction workers who work in close contact with foreign construction workers will also be given priority for COVID-19 vaccination.
