MINISTER FOR HEALTH AND COORDINATING MINISTER FOR SOCIAL POLICIES MR ONG YE KUNG TO ATTEND THE 17TH ASEAN HEALTH MINISTERS’ MEETING IN KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA

1. Mr Ong Ye Kung, Minister for Health and Coordinating Minister for Social Policies, will attend the 17th ASEAN Health Ministers’ Meeting (AHMM) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 9 to 11 September 2026.
2. The AHMM is held biennially to set the direction for regional health cooperation and chart the future course of the ASEAN health sector. Attendees include Health Ministers and senior officials from the ASEAN and Plus Three countries (China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea), the United States of America, the ASEAN Secretary-General, and the World Health Organization’s Regional Directors or their representatives.
3. The theme for this year’s meeting is “Healthy ASEAN: Together Towards Equitable, Future-Ready Health Systems”. The meeting serves as an important platform to discuss strategic priorities and advance the implementation of the ASEAN Strategic Health Agenda (ASHA) 2026-2030. Singapore will also be conferred the ASEAN Special Recognition Award on Smoke-free Enforcement at this year’s AHMM in recognition of our strong smoke-free measures.
4. Mr Ong will meet his foreign counterparts at the 17th AHMM. He will be accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry of Health.
