About the Ministerial Meeting on Universal Health Coverage
The theme of the Ministerial Meeting is "Universal Health Coverage: The Post-2015 Challenge".
There has been widespread interest in accelerating progress towards sustainable Universal Health Coverage (UHC) across the globe in recent years. It is pertinent that countries work towards safeguarding access to healthcare services, without excessive financial impairment to the general populace. This requires countries to look for solutions beyond the development of a sustainable healthcare financing system, and to focus on the disparate factors necessary to create an effective environment for UHC to be successfully implemented.
This summit will serve as a platform where key thought leaders from academia, politics and the health industry can come together and share their knowledge. They will discuss practical solutions to create and implement sustainable healthcare systems, as countries move towards maintaining Universal Health Coverage.
Singapore Prime Minister Mr Lee Hsien Loong officially opened the Ministerial Meeting on 10 Feb 2015.
ProgrammeThe meeting will include a Ministerial Roundtable and panel sessions on the following key areas:
Infrastructure, Manpower and Financing for UHC
Social Determinants of UHC
Challenges for Ageing and Fiscal Sustainability for UHC
