To ask the Coordinating Minister for Social Policies and Minister for Health (a) whether the Ministry has reviewed the adequacy of the $600 annual MediSave withdrawal limit for outpatient Computed Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scans; (b) what proportion of patients requiring multiple scans each year fully exhaust this limit; and (c) whether the Ministry will consider increasing the limit or allowing greater flexibility for repeated clinically necessary imaging.

Answer

1.             The annual MediSave withdrawal limit for outpatient scans was increased from $300 to $600 on 1st January 2026. The revised limit was sized to cover 9 in 10 annual subsidised bills.

2.             As the increase was implemented only recently, MOH does not yet have sufficient data on the proportion of patients who have exhausted this new annual limit.

3.             The Ministry of Health regularly reviews MediSave withdrawal limits to ensure that our healthcare services remain affordable for Singaporeans. For subsidised patients who continue to face financial difficulties, additional help may be available through MediFund.
