APPOINTMENT OF NEW CHAIRMAN FOR HEALTH PROMOTION BOARD
24 September 2026
The Minister for Health has appointed Mr Tan Hee Teck as the Chairman of the Board of the Health Promotion Board (HPB) from 1 October 2026 to 30 September 2029. Mr Tan will succeed Mr Wong Kim Yin, who will retire from the Board on 30 September 2026.
New Chairman, Mr Tan Hee Teck
2. Mr Tan Hee Teck is Chairman of NTUC Enterprise and President of the Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF). He has served on the HPB Board since 1 April 2026.
3. Mr Tan has over 20 years of strategic leadership and management experience across business, public and community sectors, including as the former Chairman and CEO of Resorts World Sentosa and CEO of Genting Singapore Limited. At NTUC Enterprise, Mr Tan oversees the group’s social mission, including its impact businesses that support working families. As President of SNEF, he has advocated for small and medium enterprises, promoted workforce development, and assumed a key role in the Singapore Economic Resilience Taskforce.
4. Mr Tan will bring diverse experience to his role as HPB Chairman, and will provide strategic guidance to the Board and leadership team as HPB advances its health promotion efforts in support of Healthier SG, Age Well SG and Grow Well SG.
Outgoing Chairman, Mr Wong Kim Yin
5. The Ministry of Health and HPB wish to express our appreciation to Mr Wong Kim Yin for his contributions and leadership to HPB, first as a member of the Board and then as Chairman from 1 April 2024.
6. Mr Wong’s counsel during his chairmanship helped to shape HPB’s many core initiatives. These included efforts to reduce sodium intake by working with industry partners to expand the availability of lower-sodium alternatives in the market, the launch of an evidence-based Design Guide to strengthen the quality of mental well-being programmes in Singapore, as well as HPB’s partnerships with technology and healthcare companies to pilot solutions for at-risk individuals and those living with chronic conditions.
7. Under his guidance, HPB strengthened the ecosystems that support the diverse health needs of residents. In addition to consolidating its Healthy 365 offerings to support residents’ physical and mental health within one platform, HPB also enhanced the app to introduce more tailored digital nudges, as well as programmes such as ‘Age Strong’ that helps older adults build healthy habits through its gamified design. These evolved the mobile app from a primarily step-tracking tool into a personalised health companion with nearly 900,000 active users every month.
8. During Mr Wong's tenure as Chairman, HPB also further extended its focus on improving children’s health and well-being under Grow Well SG. The efforts saw enhanced resources and support for parents to inculcate healthy lifestyle habits at home, and the rollout of personalised Health Plans to kindergartens and primary schools.
