Question No. 2151
To ask the Coordinating Minister for Social Policies and Minister for Health (a) how close is Sengkang Polyclinic to its physical and manpower capacity; (b) whether capacity constraints affect residents’ ability to obtain same-day consultations; and (c) whether the Ministry plans to increase the polyclinic’s capacity in the near future.
Answer
1 Sengkang Polyclinic has been experiencing high demand. It expanded its capacity through on-site renovations in end 2024, and developed a purpose-built facility at Level 4 of Sengkang Comunnity Club in Aug 2026.
2 In times of high demand, online appointments for same-day consultations may be less readily available. Nevertheless, Sengkang Polyclinic accommodate walk-in patients, particularly those who are assessed to require urgent medical care or frail seniors facing mobility difficulties.
3 We will continue to explore options to expand the capacity of the Polyclinic, and also work with GP clinics, which are an important and accessible option for community-based primary care for minor acute illnesses and chronic medical conditions.
