Question No. 2297
To ask the Coordinating Minister for Social Policies and Minister for Health (a) over the past five years, what proportion of couples undergoing assisted reproductive treatment at public healthcare institutions discontinued treatment following one or more unsuccessful cycles, broken down by age group; (b) what are the main reasons for discontinuation; and (c) whether the Ministry tracks subsequent pregnancy outcomes among these couples.
Answer
1 Between 2021 and 2024, up to 5% of In-Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) cycles were discontinued in public Assisted Reproduction centres. The most common reasons were poor or unfavourable results and patient’s choice. The Ministry of Health does not track subsequent pregnancy outcomes among couples who discontinued treatment.
