Question No. 856
To ask the Coordinating Minister for Social Policies and Minister for Health (a) whether the Ministry tracks gross premiums collected and claims settled for long-term accident and health insurance, disaggregated by (i) private hospital Integrated Shield Plans and (ii) public hospital Class A or B1 plans; and (b) if not, whether it will require insurers to provide this breakdown in regulatory submissions, rather than reporting only aggregate figures.
Answer
1 Annually, insurers submit to the Ministry of Health the gross premiums collected and claims settled for Integrated Shield Plans (IPs), broken down by the ward class and type of the plan. The numbers reveal that loss ratios for private hospitals are higher than public non-subsidised wards. However, only aggregate numbers are publicly available.
