To ask the Coordinating Minister for Social Policies and Minister for Health (a) what proportion of allied health professionals and senior allied health professionals in Community Intervention Teams (COMIT) have completed training in cognitive behavioural therapy; and (b) whether the Ministry has set a target timeline for full training coverage across all COMIT professionals.
Answer
All healthcare professionals employed by the Community Intervention Teams (COMIT) are required to be competent in managing mental health needs. They commenced additional training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) at Institutes of Higher Learning in 2024. To date, approximately 45% of COMIT healthcare professionals have completed CBT training, with the remainder expected to complete their training within the next two years.
