Digital Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS) Card to be Available on the Singpass App

     The Ministry of Health (MOH) will launch the digital Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS) card on the Singpass mobile application on 28 April 2023, offering CHAS cardholders an additional choice. Physical CHAS cards will continue to be issued by MOH and recognised at CHAS General Practitioner (GP) and CHAS dental clinics, and those who prefer to use their physical CHAS cards can continue to do so.


2.     The digital CHAS card will be automatically available on the Singpass app for new and existing CHAS cardholders aged 15 years1 and above. It can be accessed from the ‘My Cards’ section on the Singpass app, alongside users’ digital NRIC and Driving Licence cards (please refer to Annex for a sample user guide).


3.     The digital CHAS card, launched in collaboration with the Government Technology Agency, is part of the government’s efforts to digitalise more of its services to provide greater convenience to members of the public. Cardholders seeking treatment at CHAS GP or CHAS dental clinics can choose to present either their digital or physical CHAS card, together with their digital or physical NRIC, during the visit to enjoy CHAS subsidies.


4.     MOH will continue to issue physical CHAS cards to cardholders after their applications or renewals have been approved. The physical card will be mailed to the cardholder, and the digital card will be available on their Singpass app one day after they have received the notification SMS of the successful application.


5.     To protect against unauthorised access, CHAS cardholders should not capture screenshots of their digital CHAS card or share their Singpass login details with others. Cardholders are also advised to practise good online safety habits, such as setting strong passwords for their devices, or securing access to their devices through their biometric data.
