Question No. 2292
To ask the Coordinating Minister for Social Policies and Minister for Health (a) how many welfare homes under the supervision of the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) have a standing arrangement with their healthcare cluster for social prescribing and community programmes for their residents; and (b) whether the Ministry will work with MSF to extend such arrangements to every welfare home.
Answer
1 For the residents of welfare homes supervised by the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF), the priority is to meet their basic needs, including provision of proper shelter, and ensure their safety and stability. There are currently no standing arrangements between these welfare homes and their regional healthcare clusters for social prescribing.
2 The Ministry of Health (MOH) and MSF collaborate on health promotion and social prescriptions for different population groups. We will continue to work with MSF to explore how residents, including welfare home residents, can better access suitable health and community programmes.
