If you have been to Pasir Panjang Wholesale Market between 5th and 19th April, and feel unwell and have such symptoms as fever, cough, muscle aches and chills, call MOH Special Ambulance hotline at 9-178-8477 or 9-178-8478 for an ambulance to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. You may have been exposed to SARS and it is important that you are screened at TTSH to exclude SARS. We also urged those who have visited the Singapore General Hospital, sinsehs and GPs to be extra vigilant. If you suspect that you have SARS, call the above hotline number. Remember, the sooner you go for treatment, the better your chances of recovery. Do not doctor-hop.
Tan Tock Seng Hospital has very high levels of infection control. You are at little risk of catching SARS in the hospital from other patients as you will be seen in isolation room. All the hospital staff wear face masks, gowns, and gloves to prevent themselves from getting infected or infecting others. Remember, the sooner you are screened at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, the better you can protect your families and other people from the infection.
To encourage people who are unwell to come forward, the Courage Fund will provide financial assistance of up to $70 a day for patients who are hospitalised for observation or treatment for SARS. This is to help provide financial relief to those who are self-employed and whose income has suffered. Medical Social Workers will assess the extent of financial help required. Similar financial help will also be given to people placed under Home Quarantine Order.
