The final Professional Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S.) examinations conducted by the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS) and involving various restructured hospitals will take place in the second half of March 2008. In preparation, the affected restructured hospitals have pro-actively put in place measures to ensure that patient care and service standards continue to be maintained.
During these examinations, certain hospital facilities will be used and medical professionals may also be called upon to facilitate the examinations. As a result, patients may face slightly longer waiting times at the Accident & Emergency (A&E) department and for their elective surgeries. There may also be times when such elective surgeries and non-emergency medical appointments have to be postponed in view of resource constraints. However, the public can be assured that critical healthcare services will continue and will not be compromised at the hospitals.
The Ministry of Health (MOH), the NUS and the restructured hospitals would like to appeal for the public’s understanding and patience during this important period in the training of the next generation of doctors. The public can also take proactive steps to re-schedule non-critical medical appointments to help relieve hospitals’ load during this period.
The schedule and venue of examinations are as listed.
