FINANCING SUPPORT FOR PATIENTS UNDER HEALTHIER SG AND CHAS

We thank Mr Subramani Hariharan for his letter “Ensure parity in subsidies for Healthier SG patients” (June 9). We have separately reached out to Mr Subramani to share more about the benefits under Healthier SG.

Healthier SG enrollees can tap higher drug subsidies under the Healthier SG Chronic Tier, where they can purchase selected chronic medications from their enrolled general practitioner (GP) clinics at prices comparable with polyclinics. Mr Subramani might not have used the Healthier SG Chronic Tier, and instead used the original Chas Chronic drug subsidies. We have advised him to consult his enrolled doctor on the best option.

Mr Subramani also asked why he had to pay $50 for the X-ray ordered by his Healthier SG GP clinic for a frozen shoulder. Under Healthier SG, preventive care such as nationally recommended health screening and vaccinations are fully funded for Singapore citizens, but not X-rays for acute conditions, where Chas subsidies can be applied to offset the costs of these investigations.
