1 Minister for Health Mr Gan Kim Yong will attend the 64th session of the World Health Organisation (WHO) Western Pacific Regional Committee Meeting (RCM) and related meetings in Manila, the Philippines from 21-22 Oct 2013. He will be accompanied by a delegation of officials from the Ministry of Health.
2 The 64th RCM will discuss issues such as the regional strategy on non-communicable diseases (NCDs), health systems strategies, and regional strategy to combat emerging infectious diseases.
3 During the RCM, Minister Gan will participate in the ministerial discussions and will meet with his regional counterparts to renew ties and explore potential collaborations in the area of healthcare. Minister Gan will also be attending a special panel session on ageing and health, where member states and experts will share their experience and expertise in tackling issues relating to the ageing population.
4 The Western Pacific RCM is an annual meeting of 37 member states and regions and is attended by Health Ministers and senior officials from the region, as well as senior staff from the WHO.
