MINISTER ONG YE KUNG MEETS SOUTH AFRICAN DEPUTY PRESIDENT PAUL MASHATILE IN CAPE TOWN

           Mr Ong Ye Kung, Minister for Health and Coordinating Minister for Social Policies, met Deputy President of the Republic of South Africa His Excellency Paul Mashatile in Cape Town on 6 November 2025.

2          Following up from Prime Minister Lawrence Wong's meeting with South African President His Excellency Cyril Ramaphosa on the sidelines of the 47th ASEAN Summit last month, Deputy President Mashatile and Mr Ong discussed enhancing bilateral and regional cooperation in trade and investment, and improving transport connectivity. As South Africa is undertaking a reform of the governance of its state-owned enterprises, Mr Ong also shared Singapore's experience on the matter, and invited Deputy President to visit Singapore again to meet the relevant stakeholders in Singapore.

3          Mr Ong also attended bilateral meetings with Deputy Minister for Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation the Honourable Seiso Mohai and Deputy Minister for Social Development the Honourable Ganief Hendricks.

4          Following this working visit to Cape Town, Mr Ong will attend the G20 Health Ministerial Meeting (HMM) and Joint Finance and Health Ministerial Meeting (JFHMM) in Limpopo, South Africa from 6 to 7 November 2025.
