To ask the Coordinating Minister for Social Policies and Minister for Health for each of the past three years (a) how many seniors underwent hearing screening through Project Silver Screen; (b) what proportion were identified as requiring further assessment or intervention; and (c) how many seniors received subsidies for hearing aids under the Seniors' Mobility and Enabling Fund.
Answer
1. In 2023, 2024, and 2025, around 34,000, 38,000, and 36,000 seniors underwent hearing screening through Project Silver Screen respectively. About 60% of them were identified to require further assessment or intervention.
2. Over the same period, more than 99% of subsidy applications under the Seniors’ Mobility and Enabling fund were successful, with around 5,500, 6,200, and 7,200 seniors receiving means-tested subsidies for hearing aids respectively.
