Prima Deli Food Poisoning - Media Update

As of 06 December 07, there are a total of 17 food poisoning incidents involving 143 cases associated with the consumption of Prima Deli food items. 11 cases were hospitalised, all of whom have been discharged except for one.
Initial testing of food samples taken from the Prima Deli factory has shown that the hazelnut paste tested positive for Salmonella enteritidis. Another semi-processed product, chocolate cream, has also tested positive.
An additional four food handlers at the Prima Deli factory have tested positive for Salmonella enteritidis, bringing the total to six. One food handler in a Prima Deli outlet has also tested positive for Salmonella enteritidis.
Investigations are still ongoing to identify the source of the outbreak. The public is reminded to discard all food items purchased from Prima Deli. Anyone with symptoms of Salmonellosis should seek immediate medical attention.
The public is advised to observe good hygiene practices, such as washing your hands with soap and water frequently, especially after toilet visits, changing diapers and before eating or preparing food.
