Screening Test Review Committee Report 2026, Volume 1
3 February 2026
The Screening Test Review Committee (STRC) was established to provide expert guidance to healthcare practitioners on the appropriate use of specific screening tests in Singapore, based on the current available evidence.
The last STRC report was published in 2019. Given the evolving evidence base in screening and changes in disease epidemiology, these recommendations have been updated to reflect the latest evidence and best practices relevant to Singapore’s population. This will support ongoing efforts to anchor preventive care upstream in primary care settings, in line with Healthier SG.
The STRC 2026 report will be published in two volumes. Volume 1 covers refreshed screening recommendations for breast, cervical, colorectal, and lung cancer, diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidaemia, hypertension, obesity, and osteoporosis.
Screening is most effective when conducted in a primary care setting where your doctor can provide personalised advice, explain results clearly, and ensure proper follow-up care. Avoid participating in mass screening events that may not provide adequate individualised assessment or follow-through support, and see your primary care doctor instead, who can assess your specific health needs and recommend appropriate screening tests based on your individual risk profile and established guidelines.
