It has come to Ministry's attention that some clinics are offering the following therapies which are not evidence based:
- Intravenous (IV) Infusion Vitamin B & C for herpes zoster, boosting the immune system for patients on chemotherapy and rehydration following fever and diarrhoea,
- IV Glutathione for fatigue,
- IV injections of progesterone, oestrogen, testosterone, DHEA and thyroid hormones to treat cognitive decline, weight gain, oesteoporosis, skin ageing, fibromyalgia and sleep disorders and
- Testosterone for hormonal replacement.
2 The Ministry would like to remind all licensees that non-evidence based treatment shall not be provided in licensed healthcare institution. Such non-evidence based treatments shall only be conducted in the context of a formal clinical trial with approval from the Health Science Authority (HSA).
